Welcome to Mazda6 2018
Brian Williams
Mazda revealed an updated version of its Mazda6
midsize sedan today at the Los Angeles Auto Show, complete with a new
turbocharged engine, revised looks, and a brand new interior. Like in
the CX-9 SUV, the new 2.5-liter turbo engine produces 250 horsepower and 310 lb.-ft. of torque.
Much of the updated exterior design has taken cues from Mazda's stunning four-door Vision Coupe concept first shown at the Tokyo Auto Show. Inside follows the same idea, using a more minimalist approach to create a less cluttered, more relaxed design.
Mazda says it revisited every aspect of the
Mazda6's stiffened chassis, improving the suspension for a smoother
ride, while mounting the steering rack directly to the frame for the
best possible steering feel.
While the new
2.5-liter turbo engine will come exclusively with a six-speed automatic
transmission, the standard-equipment, naturally aspirated 2.5-liter
inline-four can still be optioned with a six-speed manual. Good on
Mazda.
Pricing has yet to be announced for the 2018
Mazda6, but expect it to come in slightly higher than the current
model's $21,495 starting MSRP. Sales are expected to begin in spring of
2018.
